My chess set has endured marriage and held up with children
The item that I’ve held throughout my living and criss-crossed the nation with, is a tiny electronic chess set. It works on 2 double A batteries and has eight different skill levels. Naturally after 43 years the whites are a tad rusty and I’ve misplaced a bishop along the way, but largely and a change of electric batteries occasionally it has been with me since I was 15 years of age.
The chess set has inhabited in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and even Alaska. It braved marriage and held up with kids. It waits patiently in a cabinet for me to find time for a game. Of course I’ve never done it justness, only ever playing to skill stage 5 and a lot of the time being comfortable at level 3 or four, simply it has been a steady friend. It’s difficult to believe a chess set could be constructed in 1964 and keep going until now, but it has and it is still present waiting to play!
